Reputed to be one of the most picturesque and beautiful islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Mallorca is the largest among the Balearic Islands. Did you know that ten million visitors from around the world flock to Mallorca on an annual basis just so that they can get their fill of the beautiful white sand beaches, dynamic nightlife, historical sites and fabulous dining spots that it has to offer? And if you think that there's nothing more to it than the beach, think again.
Top 7 Must-Do Activities in Mallorca To give you an idea about just how much fun is in store for you when you visit Mallorca, here is a quick list of the top 7 must-do activities here:
1. Bask in the sight of one historical monument after another. Mallorca is nothing if not historical – and the endless monuments are a testament to that. First, there's the gothic cathedral in Mallorca which is an astounding presentation of Baroque, gothic and medieval architecture. The Palau de l'Almudaina and the Castell de Bellver are other historical monuments worth visiting.
2. Go beach bumming. You will definitely not be lacking for the number of beaches to hit while travelling to Mallorca. Whether you feel like losing yourself in the crowd or feeling like you're in a deserted island, there are plenty of beach destinations that you can go to. This includes Cala Fonoll, Reco de Sarena, Cala Mijana, Es Marques, Sa Calobra, Sa Cova, Cla Tuent and plenty of other beach destinations.
3. Have a walking tour of Old Palma. To learn more about what makes up Mallorca historically, have a walking tour of the old town of Palma. There are numerous guided tours that you can take including a tour of the Jewish Quarter, the Las Capuchinas Convent or a glimpse at Modernist Palma.
4. Sample the local brew along with the tapas. Your visit to any Spanish haven will never be complete without going to a local bar and sampling the brew along with tapas. In Mallorca, Palma is a favorite spot to enjoy cocktails and the bite-sized delights that Spain is most well-known for.
5. Sample the local goods at Sineu Market. To shop for souvenirs to bring home, stop by the Sineu market which is open every Wednesdays. Visiting the market will also give you a glimpse into the local life that is all Mallorca's own.
6. Visit one of the many museums and art galleries in Mallorca. Some of the noteworthy museums and art galleries in Mallorca include the Museu d'Art Espanyol Contemporani, Es Baluard and the Museu de Mallorca.
7. Visit the S'Albufera Nature Reserve. Finally, check out the S'Albufera Nature Reserve in Mallorca. Located in Alcudia Bay, it's a favorite spot for those who would like to get away from it all – and you can even spend some time bird watching.
